R-Space High Level Panel & Reception at UNGA 2026:
Building on last year's historic dialogue, R-Space will convene another high-level discussion during the 2026 United Nations General Assembly. The event will bring together the newly appointed United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the U.S. Representative for U.N. Management and Reform, refugee leaders, and other international experts to examine the future of the international refugee protection system.
R-Space Technical Panels at UNGA 2026: Managing Asylum, and Losing the Narrative
Join R-Space for two timely conversations on the policies and narratives shaping asylum and migration today. The first panel will examine the legality, effectiveness, and public costs of third-country agreements and other externalization policies, as well as practical alternatives. The second will explore how politics, media, misinformation, and public fear influence perceptions of refugees and migrants, and what can be done to rebuild trust and create more effective narratives.
Mixed Movements as a Governance Challenge: Strengthening Migration Pathways and Asylum Systems in Parallel
R-Space will be at IMRF 2026 for the first time in New York City to discuss the growing focus on “mixed movements” in global migration discourse.

R-Space @ the Second Dialogue with UNHCR Higher Commissioner Candidates
In late October 2025 in Geneva, R-Space convened its second major dialogue with confirmed candidates for the UNHCR High Commissioner role under the theme “Power, Trust and Change: Refugee Leaders in Dialogue with UNHCR Candidates.
R-Space at UNGA 2025
At the side of UNGA 2025 in New York, R-Space hosted a series of impactful refugee-led events that brought lived experience and policy influence into the heart of global discussions. The program featured a historic high-level dialogue with UNHCR High Commissioner candidates, marking one of the only spaces where refugees directly engaged with those seeking to lead the organization, alongside two policy panels led by refugee experts.
R-Space at Global Refugee Forum 2023
In December 2023, the initiative R‑Space marked a significant stride in refugee-led engagement: held from 12-15 December at Impact Hub Geneva in Geneva, the forum was entirely co-designed and governed by refugee-led organisations and brought together around 300 participants daily.
